Memories ContestWith every end comes a new beginning, and so the time has come for us to get going on our newest contest:‘Memories’. The topic is yours to interpret, gang. I’m sure you all have something to say about this one. As we all have memories, or can make up one.   
So, what are the official rules?   
I'm glad you asked! The rules are as follows:   
- Any subject matter, any rating (with in dA policy) will be accepted.  - Please keep your submissions under (approx) 5000 words.  - Submission must be written for this contest - entries of previously posted prose will not be accepted.  - Submiss Memories Contest

Urban Legend ContestThis is way past overdue, but it is the one you’ve all been waiting for. This contest will focus wholly on Urban Legends. An urban legend or a urban myth is similar to a modern folklore consisting of stories thought to be factual by those circulating them. The term is often used to mean something akin to an "apocryphal story". Urban legends are not necessarily untrue, but they are often distorted, exaggerated, or sensationalized over time.   
Despite the name, a typical urban legend does not necessarily originate in an urban setting. The term is simply used to differentiate modern legend from traditional folklore in preindustri Urban Legend Contest

My story isn’t like most you see, it has no Mythical Creatures and heroes who save the day. After all this is no kids tale, I guess it started when I was a child. I was born in Cherrypicker a village just off the capital of The City. We aren’t very creative people, after all who these days names their capital The City. My village as you can tell grows cherries, but then again so do other villages. So if you are ever traveling be sure not to mix of Cherrypicker village with Cherrypicker village. What Is Prose


Prose; \ ˈ pr ōz \ noun;A literary medium distinguished from poetry especially by its greater irregularity and variety of rhythm and its closer correspondence to the patterns of everyday speech.

Prose-R-Us is a community created by prose lovers with the goal of having fun while sharing their writings, critiques, and ideas with other members. We welcome all those old and new and hope with your help to have our community grow.

:new: The Memories contest has come to an end. We had two wonderful submissions which you voted on. Now comes the time to announce the results without further ado!

~kingtut98 is the winner of our Memories Contest with his submission titled "Memories". He is currently working on a sci-fi novel called Aftertime.
Wonderfully talented we encourage you to check out what he calls, his three best deviations.



Close behind in second place was ~Orricane with her piece "A Real Gentleman". We also encourage you to check out a very interesting deviation titled "Sugar Free Thoughts".

January - named after Janus. Janus was a god of doors and gates commonly representing past and future or change. He was depicted with two heads, one facing towards the past, the other the future. Perhaps the January theme can be about janitors (which is derived from the word Janus) or some significant change. New years resolutions and how someone goes about changing their life?
If you have anything along the same lines, but better, please by all means go ahead :)

Hello. I happened to be reading a story from one of my friends and found someone had left a message on her site about this place. I thought I would leave a message as I read up that you rarely get stuff to do between competitions. So how did all this start?
How many people roughly enter each competition?
How long has this thing been up for?
Heh, well my job has been fufilled, I've put this site place as a favorite in my computer to come and visit later, I like to read the stories but until I understand the full criteria, I think I will just watch from afar if you don't mind.
